The Kootenay River starts at Castle Mountain . Meets near the Columbia at Canal Flats then flows through Montana!
I recall the cable car before the bridge was constructed near Nipika.
I also recall the guides hanging on to the saddle horn as they swam across the raging River heading to the Palliser to big game hunts .
If the guide was savvy he stayed on the upper side of his saddle horse!
